"I got accepted at the vienna opera academy where I sang my very first role as Despina from Cosi fan tutte in palace Pallfy". 2021, the year with no concerts, online lessons and being at home. The thought of not having a concert felt not right to me. I felt the consequences of the corona crisis. But it gave me a motivation to find out where I can sing during summer time!
I searched out where in Europe I could apply for a masterclass or an opera academy, but for the most: the deadline was closed... I was disappointed but I didn't give up. A week passed and I found 'Vienna Opera Academy' by accident.
The deadline was closed but singers could still submit their videos and I was excited to send a video. I had no chance to rehearse my aria with a pianist or even record it. So what I did, I rehearsed my aria with an accompaniment from Youtube and later on, I recorded my aria with my I phone in my living room. #corona
Next step, I waited for a month and finally one day after my solfège exam at the Folkwang university I got the news that I was accepted! Actually I couldn't believe it that I would go to Vienna. During the 2 weeks before I went to Vienna I learned my other aria 'in uomini, in soldati', and some other ensemble pieces.
Arriving in Austria, especially in Vienna, I felt home. Everywhere I went, I heard classical music. I was surrounded by beautiful palaces, museums and churches. In the first days me and my mum explored Vienna. We visited a lot of museums and palaces. One of them was the Belvedere Palace and museum where we saw the exposition of Gustav Klimt.
Then my 3 weeks journey started at Musikverein, where we had our rehearsals. The atmosphere was amazing in Musikverein and I met amazing singers, conductors and teachers. I had lessons with professor Victoria Loukianetz and professor Noé Colin. Victoria sang 83 different roles at the Vienna State Opera...! Besides of singing lessons I had staging from Jesus Leon, the director of the Vienna Opera Academy. I learned a lot of things and I am glad to experience this amazing opportunity!
